Programme

Borodin: Prince Igor Overture

Glinka: Kamarinskaya

Bruch: Violin Concerto No. 1

Dvořák: New World Symphony

YCAT violinist Irène Duval joins the Maidstone Symphony Orchestra at Mote Hall to open their 116th season, performing Bruch's ever-popular First Violin Concerto. The concert also marks the beginning of the end of an era, as it is the first of Music Director Brian Wright's final season after 37 years with the orchestra. Around the concerto sit Borodin's Prince Igor Overture, Glinka's Kamarinskaya, the first orchestral work built entirely on Russian folk song, and Dvořák's New World Symphony. A free pre-concert talk runs from 6.40pm.
